April 2019
The inception of Clean Air De Anza. The first student team to come together for our first meeting.
May 2019
The CADA team initiated the Public Opinion Poll and collected over 100 surveys from students and faculty about De Anza's smoking policy.
Summer 2019
Creation of social media content and research products.
Fall 2019
Supported community efforts to pass a tobacco retail license law through the city of Cupertino and spoke to public officials
Spring 2020
Gathered 19+ student clubs on De Anza's campus to sign letters in support for advocating a smoke-free campus
Summer 2020
Made a social media campaign video.
Published our petition on Change.org for a smoke free campus with over 200 signatures and supporters.
November 2020
Began Working with the programming club to build a video game called “the tobacco pandemic” to communicate the realities of the tobacco industry
December 2021
Successfully organized support to convince the Student Senate at De Anza to pass a resolution in support of a 100% smoke-free campus.
Summer 2022
Created blog website (this one!) as a creative outlet and raise awareness on impacts of the tobacco industry to students and campuses.
March 2023
Our smoke-free policy was presented to the highest decision making body at De Anza, the College Council. It was voted on and President Lloyd Holmes will make a recommendation to the Foothill-De Anza District Board in favor of our policy.
